Starting from the insightful observation of the cafe culture in his native Austria —where efficiency keeps being put aside in favor of valuable idleness—, Lukas Gschwandtner developed Viennese Measurements, a portable pavilion constructed as a formal extension of the round coffee table. With expandable chairs intended to welcome new participants to the conversation, this operates as a response to the productivity- driven perception of time itself where dialogue becomes constricted by the desperate search for efficiency.

Originally conceived as a reference to the circular arrangement of gathering around the coffee table, in the context of the iconic landscape of La Huasteca the pavilion echoes the common practice of building bonfires around which we gather with no other purpose than that of sharing time.
